It is very sad to see shih tzu Grooming being left for far too long, especially when they are probably one of the most easiest and most placid breeds to groom. Luckily though, its not as hard as it may seem to get the poor little dog back on track again and looking neat and healthy.
Here are some easy tips to remember:
- regularly brush your dog. In the case of this dog, the hair was so matted that the best course of action was to use the clippers to reduct it to a manageable length, wash and condition and then brush out the remaining length
- ensure the coat is kept to a manageable length by brushing and trimming /clipping
- use appropriate shampoo and conditioner to help prevent tangling and matting
Following these three basic and often overlooked tips can help keep your dog looking its best.
